DESCRIPTION: A highly practical session, geared towards expats (whether or not they are residents) in which we will explain the tax policies that affect their investments. We will highlight the importance of having a tax ID number and how to properly notify your financial institution about your tax residency status. We will deal with Spanish income tax (IRPF) versus non-resident income taxes (IRNR) and the so-called “Beckham Law”, as well as how tax authorities in different countries share information: FACTA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) and SRC (Common Reporting and standard Due Diligence).

DESCRIPTION: In Catalonia, the Catalan language is useful for many reasons: for getting to know your surroundings and the culture of the place where you live and for forging social relationships (at school, with neighbors, at work, etc.), but it is also good for business relationships, for companies and sales.
In this session you’ll learn how the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (the official body for Catalan-language learning) can help you learn the language in person or online, with a series of leisure and cultural activities and informal conversations as part of the Voluntariat per la llengua program.

Barcelona is also home to numerous non-profit associations working towards social cohesion, improving quality of life, and addressing social problems and emergencies. Volunteers contribute their time, efforts and enthusiasm and get a sense of satisfaction that can’t be bought. Learn about what it’s like to be a volunteer and get involved to help make the world a more human place.

Additionally, there are numerous private insurance companies that offer their services through an extensive private medical network (healthcare centers and personnel). DESCRIPTION: Panellets are a typical cake eaten in Catalonia on All Saints (honoring our ancestors) the 1st of November. This holiday, which is also known as the Castanyada (Chestnut Festival), coincides with Halloween. It is very typical to have panellets with chestnuts and yams (or sweet potatoes) and muscatel. Take advantage of this workshop to learn how to make panellets, one of the most important recipes in our culinary tradition, with raw almonds, sugar, egg yolk and pine nuts.

DESCRIPTION: Barcelona Coral Àsia is a project promoted by Casa Àsia with the Barcelona City Council to foster multiculturalism though music and singing. Made up of 40 singers of more than 20 different nationalities (60% are from Asia), the choir sings in Asian languages that reflect the city’s cultural and linguistic diversity.

DESCRIPTION: This young band will bring the festivities to a close with a performance of traditional jazz songs. Everyone, no matter their origin, age or condition, will find themselves attracted and energized by the joyful, colorful Dixieland beats. The six members of the group, nearly all from the renowned Sant Andreu Jazz Band, will play a dynamic selection featuring a wide range of popular jazz songs from the early 20th century in the United States.
